Our History and Experience
1980’s
Over the years the owners of PontoonToursMb have cultivated a love affair for the Canadian Boreal and the stories.
It began in the 1980’s as owner-operators of a small float and ski air charter in northern Manitoba, when the majestic beauty of the Boreal landscape took roots. On a nearly daily basis, the aerial view of the lakes, the muskeg, the wildlife, the forest and the rugged shorelines made a bush pilot’s work truly special. With each seasonal change, the view on the horizon never turned boring.
2010 - 2022
In 2010, the owners acquired a fishing lodge in the Nopiming Region and entered into the outfitting business with enthusiasm.
This was a wonderful experience providing an opportunity to hear the stories, research the history and appreciate the fishing.
Schools Programs
By 2011, the owners had developed and introduced an Outdoor Education Program for schools in the Province. The history of the region, the ecology, the amazing fishery and the stories all combined to make a 3 day school excursion to the outdoor classroom a truly valued experience for educators. A fishing primer was made available to all student groups that they worked. On the average, upwards of 80 % of the students were fishing for their very first time.
Then, with the onset of pandemic, the workload changed. While occupancy at their drive-to lodge increased, provincial group restrictions that were imposed, resulted in the school programs being temporarily suspended.
The Families and Friends Vacation
In 2022 the lodge took on new ownership setting the stage for the perfect time to launch Rural & Remote Outdoors Interpretive Tours and Pontoon ToursMb.com.
